Aim and Goal of Gardens-of-Hope

The goal of the Garden-of-Hope project is to provide nutrition and skills training for the children of the Fairfield Children’s Home (FCH) and other surrounding Orphans and Orphanages. The funds raised for this project will purchase goats, chickens, rabbits, and seeds for vegetables including tomatoes, onions, carrots, beans, wheat, and broccoli. In addition, the funds will be used for fencing to expand the existing garden, fertilizer, chemicals, labor, buildings and provision for the animals. The project also includes training of representatives from FCH and other surrounding orphanages.

In addition, several students from Africa University will be trained to continue the project in future years.

The project will enable FCH to produce its own vegetables, meat and milk, as well as will greatly reduce the operating expenditures of the orphanage. In addition, the children of FCH will learn valuable (and perhaps profitable) skills to be employed in the future.
